Take a
peek at what you can do with PSP. |
Beginning with PSP and progressing to a
simple, and fun! psp painting.
Students will learn the basics of PSP and
it won't matter which version (5, 6, or 7)
as only basics will be taught here. Students
will become comfortable with using the color
palette, toolbars, the menus and more. They
will also learn the basics of putting layers
together and blending. We'll progress to creating
some simple projects culminating with a painting
in your last week.
Examples will be provided so that all students
can work at the same level.
First week...
You'll be playing around with the tool bar,
the windows and learning how to work around
within the program itself. This will include
some exercises using some of these tools to
create your painting
Second week...
You'll learn about creating and making selections,
using the lasso tool, the selector tool and
the color picker.
This will help you understand when you need
to select a certain area in your painting
and manipulate it.
Week Three...
You'll learn about creating and managing layers.
You'll learn about creating one layer, save
it, create another, go back to the previous
layers and change, add or rearrange that layer
before going on to the next one. In this way,
you won't have to re-do your painting from
scratch!
Week Four...
This week you'll create a couple of simple
projects to get you comfortable with a psp
painting.
Week Five....
You'll be starting on the psp painting and
completing it in the last week. This will
give you allow you extra time for questions,
problem solving etc.

Basic Drawing
Techniques
Instructor: Madeleine Jacobs
Not sure about the class?
More info here
|
Drawing is not a magical process,
but a real learnable, teachable
skill. It may appear that
people who can pick up a pencil
at an early age have some inherent
ability and innate talent to draw,
but the truth is, it's all about
how we 'see'. When we begin to
draw, we need to be all eyes.
The whole belief that only a talent
for drawing is inherited is a
drawback for those that have always
wanted to learn but believe they
can't simply because they didn't
inherit any talent. It's a skill
that anyone can learn and we're
going to be going through some
exercises the next few weeks that
will hopefully change perceptions
about what drawing really is and
what the difference is between
'talent' and a learned skill.

Landscape Pencil
Painting
Instructor: Madeleine Jacobs |
This 6 week course is
designed to walk the
student through
understanding
perspective,
composition and
overall design in
landscapes. Besides
using values, shapes
and textures in a
completed project,
students will be asked
to evaluate landscape
photos, combine
elements from
different photos and
at the end of 6 weeks,
be able to complete a
landscape from
beginning to end.
Students will be best
served by taking Basic
Drawing Techniques
first, simply because
the elements of
beginning drawing
(such as texture,
shapes and values )
are covered in more
depth than in the 6
week Landscape Pencil
Painting Course.
